LitRPG/GameLit authors united!

As many of you have heard, Amazon’s Content Review team has been a bit over the top this year. The running theory is that there is an illicit service being used by some unscrupulous and greedy authors to drum up page reads and boost their page ranks, and that these services borrow and read other authors books to appear legitimate. A great number of LitRPG authors are impacted by this. The response by the KDP Content Review team has been swift and unforgiving. Authors targeted by these services are having their page reads slashed by about 50% every month. They […]

To my readers, on Kindle Unlimited difficulties

To my dearest readers, I’m writing you to let you know of some unsettling developments for my published stories. In the past, I’ve enjoyed participating in Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited Program for the Fjorgyn series and had originally planned to include other books in the program. But, through no fault of my own, Amazon KDP Support has threatened my account with suspension for activities I am not responsible for. I have not and never will violate any single platform’s marketing guidelines. Despite trying to clear up this mess, there is little to no guarantee it will not happen to me again. […]

Dawn Chapman’s and Matt Ferraz’s “Know Thy Enemy”

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the release of “Know Thy Enemy” by a friend of mine I met in my grand adventure of writing LitRPG. Dawn Chapman has been creating sci-fi and fantasy stories for thirty years. Until 2005 when her life and attention turned to scripts, and she started work on The Secret King, a 13 episode Sci-Fi TV series, with a great passion for this medium. In 2010, Dawn returned to her first love of prose. She’s been working with coach EJ Runyon who’s encouraged her away from fast-paced script writing, to revel in the world […]

The world of Fjorgyn just got a little bit bigger

To give you all a taste of what is to come in Fjorgyn: Shifting Sands, I’ve created and will include the following map in the front matter of book three. This map highlights some of the locations you already know (Elatha, Belen Dell, Greenleaf Enclave, Brackenvale, and Magheim’s Expanse) but expands to cover the entire continent, including undiscovered locations that you can look forward to. Enjoy! 🙂

Today it’s my turn! Author Interview for “A Haunting of Words”

Read about my story, “The Jonathan of Bracken Manor,” appearing in the anthology A Haunting of Words Synopsis: “The Jonathan of Bracken Manor” follows a young ghost as he haunts his family’s mansion over the course of a century. What inspired you to write this story?: When I first read about the “Of Words” series, I thought it an interesting anthology concept.  The opportunity to be selected is what ultimately inspired me to create a story.  However, “The Jonathan of Bracken Manor” was conceived when my husband and I went to a boutique hotel in Newport, RI for dinner.  The hotel […]

Lacrimosa: Upcoming standalone LitRPG novel

Because I am enjoying writing LitRPG so much, I’d like to take this moment to introduce my current work in progress (WIP): Lacrimosa. This novel will be around 75k-100k words and will be a standalone LitRPG story given that I need a short break between books two and three of the Fjorgyn series.  The LitRPG engine behind the game will be fundamentally different than Fjorgyn’s engine.  Here are some details about the model differences: Also, here is a quick preview of the fixed number of pre-selected classes players can choose during character creation:

Fjorgyn Book 2 Progress update and preview

While I had initially planned on knocking out my first draft of Fjorgyn: The Deep Below in May, personal issues got the best of me.  From a gut-wrenching funeral of my beloved aunt and godmother to a deluge of work-related activities, I am about 20,000 words behind schedule.  This should not, however, impact my ability to hit my target release of mid-July. To those of you who are eagerly awaiting the release of book two, I thank you for your patience and hope I will not disappoint. Book Two will be near twice the length of book one and […]

What’s in my writing pipe?

While many of you know I am currently working on Fjorgyn: The Deep Below as a part of NaNoWriMo April 2017, I have more projects in my pipeline that are in various stages of production and development.  My plan is for all of these to see the light of day in 2017 and 2018: Fjorgyn: Voices of Revolution (Book 3).  This will be a continuation of the series and I am hoping to have this released in Autumn 2017, although this is subject to change. When Mountains Weep. This is a third person, past tense story about Adam, a young […]

Teasing sample from Fjorgyn: The Deep Below

My dear readers, for whom I am ever grateful, As you may know, I am working first and foremost on producing the second release of the Fjorgyn series.  I will be working heavily on this work with other authors in the LitRPG Society during April’s iteration of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).  In fact, we already have a sprint cycle established.  In the meantime, please enjoy this sample from chapter 1.  Do not read further if you haven’t finished book 1.  This scene takes place when our beloved Michael meanders through Brackenvale Keep the evening after their escape from Elatha, […]

“The Jonathan of Bracken Manor”

My husband surprised me this last Valentine’s Day with a fancy dinner at Vanderbilt Grace.  It was a cold and icy day when we arrived, looking like it was going to rain.  This did not detract from the evening.  We sat at a private table near a roaring fire, a live pianist serenading all of the diners. The dining room was dimly lit and romantic—the perfect setting for a perfect Valentine’s Day. We got to talking over dinner about things we were working on, upcoming trips we had planned, and general odds and ends.  I took a break from the […]
